Dura-Chain Alley Scraper

Dura-Chain Alley Scraper

Jamesway’s new DURA-CHAIN Alley Scraper System offers many advantages over traditional alley scrapers. The drive unit is very compact, requiring very little floor space. The drive unit may be assembled in many different configurations to accommodate a wide range of barn layouts while allowing you to choose where you wish to locate the unit. The simple drive unit has only one moving part, resulting in very low maintenance and long life. The massive gearbox is belt-driven by a standard 2HP motor.

You may choose to run the ½” diameter Dura-Chain on top of existing floors or in a groove. The smooth, compact chain is specially formulated to withstand the heavy demands of alley scraper systems. Up to 1,000 feet of chain may run on a single drive unit.

The heavy duty corner wheels have 1.75 inch shafts running in Dura-Core sleeve bearings. These greasable plastic bushings are already well proven in Jamesway’s AlleyCat Cable Scraper wheels. The wheel is housed in a low profile box with easy access via the “pop-open” front wall.

Jamesway DURA-CHAIN Alley Scrapers are also able to operate in alleys of differing lengths. A special Slider-Sled allows the chain to pass through a blade in the shorter alley so that it remains stationary for part of a stroke while the blade in the longer alley travels the full length.

The SCRAPER-BOSS Control Panel is easy to use. The simple Touch-Screen menus let you quickly set up the cleaning schedule you wish. The solid-state PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is the brains of the operation, with the same proven dependability found in robotic controls around the world. The SCRAPER-BOSS Control Panel provides you with the ultimate level of simplicity and flexibility while also providing superior levels of cow protection.

Jamesway offers a wide range of scraper blades for different applications. All Jamesway blades are Quick-Attach mounted to the towing sled. Select the standard DURA-CHAIN sled for most applications or the Slider-Sled for use in unequal alleys.

The 60” diameter drum is extra wide (24”), giving a maximum stroke of 600 feet using ½” cable, allowing this heavyweight to clean barns up to 2,350 feet long! The 3/8” thick 60” drum runs on heavy duty cast flange bearings, powered by a #100 roller chain running on our massive super-duty gearbox.

As with all XD-Series, the XD-600 is equipped with external greasing for the 1.5” diameter guide screws, easy access covers, easy access motor mount, and the ultra-reliable smart switching system.

Alley Cat™ DURA-CORE Corner Wheel

Alley Cat™ DURA-CORE Corner Wheel

The proven Alley Cat Cable Scraper 19” corner wheel is now also available with DURA-CORE bushings instead of bearings. The DURA-CORE bushings are not affected by manure contamination. There is no need for seals and so eliminates the problem of seal maintenance, particularly in sand-laden manure. Grease purging through the bottom of the existing model of Alley Cat wheel has proven so successful at preventing freezing and extending life that this feature has also been incorporated into the DURACORE wheel.

Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE

Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE

The new Jamesway Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE is used with freestall alley scraper systems in place of galvanized or stainless steel cable. This braided plastic scraper cable provides excellent durability while offering exceptional safety for your animals. Developed to have extremely low elasticity and elongation, the Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE does not pose any danger of springback if broken. Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE has no sharp ends and will not develop the damaging frayed fibers found on worn steel cables.

The impressive durability is a result of the specific type of material, the braiding and the special hardening agents. The low weight not only makes this new cable easy to handle, it also makes it gentle on your floor. Cow-Safe DURA-CABLE is available in 3/8” or 1/2” diameter at your Jamesway Dealer.

Manure Systems Accessories

Manure Systems Accessories

Jamesway accessories make sure the job is done right, resulting in improved safety for animals and people as well as improved longevity for the equipment. These accessories make proper planning and installation easy so your contractor can get it right the first time. Jamesway will also work with your barn planner to ensure all details are on the concrete plan before work starts. Better performance, better safety and a better looking barn make Jamesway Accessories and Jamesway Planning an easy choice.

Floor Track for Alley Cat Cable Scrapers:
This track forms a 1” wide x 1.5” deep groove in the center of the alley. Cables operating in a steel track enjoy substantially longer life than cables running on concrete floors. The steel floor of the track is much less abrasive than concrete floors, resulting in less cable wear. The groove also protects the cable from damage by skidsteer loaders or other equipment that may drive in the alley to replenish bedding, and animals are not endangered by sharp cable strands found on worn steel (or stainless steel) cables.

Any steel floor track needs two properties to ensure these benefits: it must be strong, so it does not wear out, and it must be absolutely straight. Jamesway floor tracks guarantee both...the double tee profile is extremely rigid and the ¼” thick steel will last. These tracks are installed before the main alley floor is poured and provide a guaranteed straight & graded line for the concrete contractor to screed against, making perfect results easy. Jamesway planning also explains how to prepare the ends of the alleys, how to prepare the manure cross gutters and how to position the drive units.

Floor Track for Dura-Chain Scrapers:
Dura-Chain may be run on top of the floor or in a groove. The groove for Dura-Chain may be formed in the concrete (as shown in Jamesway Planning) but when using sand bedding it is preferable to protect the concrete from wear. Jamesway floor tracks for Dura-Chain feature ½” thick floors, made from Abrasion-Resistant steel. Massive thickness and extra hardness are the best defences against sand abrasion, and these tracks deliver both in spades.

Cross Gutter Covers:
These modular covers are built to withstand skidsteer and tractor traffic, while providing a clean and safe area at the manure gutter. Scraper blades can travel over the covers and the 9” wide drop slot lets manure fall into the gutter. These 12” or 18” wide segments make removal easy. Made from reinforced ¼” thick checkerplate steel, they are built to last.

Use the 30”wide covers for the Shuttle-Stroke Cross Gutter Cleaner and the 42” covers for Gutter-Cat Cross Gutter or B15/16 Chain Cross Gutter.
